Big Dreams From Little People

We are looking for children (ages 5 to 14) to help us in our “Dream 4 Our Lives” campaign and Social Media Fundraiser to raise support for the building of the Dream Factory Media Art Center in Chicago’s Auburn/Gresham community. As you may know, Chicago’s street violence have paralyzed a lot of the city, leaving some communities with little hope. This problem of violence has to do, in part, with youth not having quality social engagement within their community. Most youth programs that do exist, simply occupy their time, without any financial future.. This is one of the major reasons why some youth are pulled to street activities like selling drug and/or violence.

Dream 4 Our Lives is our mission to give little people a voice in telling their story of how street violence has affected then. A problem that has largely been represented through the eyes and voices of adults only. We would like to try a difference approach in preventing violence by letting these little voices be a influence for change.

TO PARTICIPATE: Have your child write their story in 200 words or less about “How Violence Has Affected Them or Someone They Love”. After they have finished writing, post it to one or all of your favorite social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram & Pinterest) as a video as they read it. In the video description please include the words: “I Support The DREAM To Save LIVES!”, with hashtag #DREAM4OURLIVES and the link for donations: http://gofundme.com/dreamfactory.
